SYMPTOMS OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

The most common symptoms of Endometriosis are:

Painful Periods
Heavy Menstrual Flow
Painful Intercourse
Pelvic Pain
Infertility

Other Symptoms include:
Fatigue
Pain in Shoulder, especially during a period
Chronic Pain
Benign ovarian or ‘Chocolate’ cysts
Backache
Bloating
Constipation

Nausea
Vomiting
Tenderness/Pain in Anal Region

Shooting Pain or Cramping in Lower Abdominal area
Painful Bowel Movements
Painful and/or frequent Urination
Blood in Urine
Pain in Leg
Pain in Hips radiating down to groin and legs just above knees
Pain around the Tailbone area
Pain in Sciatic area

Allergies

**You do not have to have all of the above to have Endo, these are a guideline.

About this site;

This page publishes from newest post down to oldest, therefore, my story will be explained near to the bottom of the page, and is how it should be read in order to understand the sequence of things.

I hope throughout this site as well as the side links provide the readers with loads of helpful information. To those in my group...I try to update here instead of posting on forum so not to take up valuable space, so look here often for updates. I usually post to forum when I have added info here.

Anti-Depressants and Endo

More and more women are being given antidepressants for their endo symptoms even though they are not depressed.

While I am very against the handing out of antidepressants by untrained Dr's and from my own personal experiance in almost losing my life from taking them, there are some who do find benefits when it comes to pain control.

Because of this and to be fair I will admit for some these may be something to consider, however, PLEASE go over this with someone highly qualified in prescribing them and be very diligent in being carefully monitored while on these powerful brain chemical altering medications.
When things go wrong when on them many times we can't see it ourselves. If anyone close to you, or you yourself notice personality changes or suicidal thoughts, PLEASE get help and talk to your Dr about how to stop them.

Antidepressant use should never be taken lightly, nor without careful consideration, they are very strong medications that can have terrible side effects.

Why do they prescribe antidepressants for endo?

Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the body that help to regulate messages to the brain. These messages include: pain, pleasure, anxiety, panic, arousal, and sleep. Although anti-depressants are produced to treat depression – they also have a side effect of helping to block neurotransmitters carrying messages of pain into the brain. Anti-depressants are often prescribed for the management of chronic pain.

Although they are effective for some, they don’t work for everyone, and have side effects, so please discuss this treatment in full with your doctor and make sure that you have understood all the aspects.
